from my experiences, younger bettas might not have enough experience to breed.
- little bubble nest, try not to change water for sometimes ... it will help.
- mating shouldnt be a problem but sometimes will forget to pick up the eggs ... maybe too 'high' ... orgasm ...
- taking cares of eggs and newborn ... same like above, eggs and newborns drown ... use flat surface at bottom.
- stress ... he will wallop everything into his stomach ... so don't always disturb the eggs.

at the end, it's a joy and wonderful experiences for both fish and you!
