Sponge filter have its weak point, when temperature change the fish will infected by white spot specially if you didn't clean the filter regurlary.

I would recommend you guys to use undergravel filter instead of sponge filter, this system work almost perfectly for keeping guppy. You can save up lot of time to clean filter and change water. It can last for 1 month if you manage feeding properly.
