100% water changes is it required?

my tap pH is 8. my tank water is about 7 pH. usually i only change 50% water every week.theory is when i mix pH8 with pH7 water, pH should rise to about 7.5pH for 50% water changes. only 50 times more alkaline. still not that bad..
