I don't know about your situation. Mathematically it's correct but theoretically not so simple because other factors will effect the fluctuation of pH of your water. This would probably holds true for undergravel filtration where there's still residue of faeces/food that still undergoes decomposition even after 50% water change which would immediate effect dilute the pollutants however we couldn't gauge the state of decompostion at the time of water change that would overtime accumulate and therefore causing a sudden pH crash. I managed to monitor this phenomenon thus reduced the potential mortality. We have to bare in mind that percentage of water change only affect chemistry composition in a linear pattern. However, decomposition might happen exponentially because of decomposition bacteria can/able to multiply exponentially. So in effect, there would be accumulation. Just my 2 cents hope I didn't babbled too much
