that may be the gene of the parents. Guppy parents that are weak may produce weak offsprings which may not be able to survive long.Another problem would be the temperature(make sure not too cold). Actually there is no need for gas pump or small hanging filter. Just make sure u change the water regularly and feed them enough food.
