Bro, how long should we define long period in your post??!! For my case, I able to keep them as long as 10days, that is bcos all stock I had finished ... I don't know how long can I keep them if I continued, but I know at least 10 days in low temperature, aeration, shallow water level, wide container and frequent water change.
