Yes, ranchu can grow big in indoor tubs or tanks. Given that you keep the number down and feed the fish with live feeds (frozen redworms for example) and high grade pellet feed such as the Hikari Breeder's Preferred Fancy Goldfish Sinking pellet or imported Japanese specialized ranchu feeds.
Ranchu can be kept in various kinds of habitat as long as you pay good attention to the water quality, feed (live feed, pellet feed, and vegetable), and sunshine. If you do not have sunshine then you will need to find vitamin additives to help with the development of pigment and good scales condition.
