they are probably mirroring. meaning they are eyeballing their reflection on glass bottom. common with all fish like discus, silver dollar...
these fellas are powerful swimmers, unless you have tsunami i doubt your powerhead has enough to faze them.
i bought my sabae at less than 2" tall, in nine months they were 7in + tall. i returned it to the nice lady at lucky star aquarium in jl pasar and replaced it with small ones.
they grew to 6in+ before power failure killed them all including my tropheus collection, 7" frontosa and other cichlids. very sad day...depressed for a week. only survivor was a royal panaque and a kuhli loach.
