never had the this variety, but saw some at A1 (near subang).
I currently own the tropheus doubosi variety. Been keeping them for MONTHS now, and they seem very healthy. They have grown about 1/2 to 1 inch since purchase, and their colors are starting to show.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
However, note that these fishes have very special requirements. For one, they require nutral to hard water. Will get sick in soft water. More sensative to poor water quality than most African Chilids.
Very important to note that they are all VEGETARIAN!!! Any meat will cause them to have intestine infection, which leads to bloat, and a fast death. The entire tank can be wiped up in less than 1 week, as it is also highly contegious!!!
Finally, add all fish at the same time. They will establish their own hirachy. Once they establish their own hirachy, any new fish added will be KILLED by ALL the existing fish.
hope this helps.
