Arrow Is it difficult to cultivate live daphnia?

I once washed a month-old cannister filter and it really stank of ammonia. I kept this dirty water in a bucket and I dumped some water lettuce to see if the plants would fatten up. Few days later, I noticed some really minute creatures swimming around. It's daphnia. I remember when I was a kid and I could occasionnally buy daphnia back in my hometown (Malacca)... I could even collect from the flooded pigsty (which was converted into a duck pond during the rainy seasons)... but it was also full of other (dangerous?) organisms. Anyways, am thinking of cultivating my own daphnia coz my baby guppies seem rather stunted in size. Is it possible to raise daphnia? All I need is green water yes? And where can I buy these water fleas? Never saw any in my countless visits to the lfs in KL.
