yes take your pick...

diatom filters are diatom filters.
it has a fine filtration media/diaphragm to filter out diatoms...
floating green and brown algae can be filtered out this way.
may take some investigating to find one near you that sells it. but this is merely a stop gap measure.

the aerating one is my recommendation...you can add some psb bacteria to speed up the process too.
