Hi guys,

I some two symptoms on my fishes but I do not what what ailment is that.

Two of my gold fish is approximately 1 inch big. There are some black streaks on its fins. I am not sure if they are bloof streaks, but they are certainly black. ( I suppose blood would be red).

Next, I decided to put them in separate tanks and treat them with Ocean Free Mediation - SUPER , External Bacteria & Fungus Away. I observed the following when I put the two gold fish in quarantine. One of them started to develope slime like stufffs on its nostrils. and it was always trying to get to the surface instead. I immediately changed the water and change the medication. I thought treating the slime is more important. However, no joy. next day, the fish with slime went dead. I then thoguht that it may not be a good idea to quarantine my gold fish anymore. I put back the remaining fish (at this point in time, its black streaks had also began to diminish, so I tot it is okay to put it back to the main tank).

Days have past since then. Today, I observe new things happen to my OTHER FISHES in the tank. I have a total of 7 gold fishes in the tank.
Some of the fishes now also have black streaks in on their tail.

I have a approximately 2.5 inch gold fish in my tank. Its tail seemed to have blood (red) streaks now. I am not sure.

My questions

1. What are these black streaks ? What category of illness do they belong to ? (i.e. external bacteria, internal bacteria, slimes, velvet, fungus ...etc ?) I hope to know what category they are and hopefully I can treat them with the correct medication.

2. from my brief description, does anyone know what could be the likely cause of my fish's death (the one in the quarantine). I hope to understand the problem better so that I do not committ the same mistake again.

3. How do I tell if a blood streak is really a blood streak ? I understand blood streaks are likely to be caused by internal or external bacteria ( from SUPER medication guide enclosed with their products). But how can I best ascertain it is bloodstreak illness -> internal / external bacteria illness ?

I am so sorry about this long mail. Recently, I suffered a severe massacre of my fishes. Within 2 days, 6 of my gold fish died. I need to learn how to breed gold fish properly as soon as possible before I cause more deaths!!

Many thanks in advance for your time and patience!!

Regards
