Vincent - I don't know about sucker fishes, but would certainly suggest you check your water quality. You can take a water sample to the pet store and they will usually test for free if you don't have test kits yourself.

If I were you, and had little ones, I would get them out any way I could and isolate them before they get eaten. Net or "wash" them into a container to remove. You'll probably have to remove that bottom thing, but I'll tell you what, there is no such thing as an easy way to do things in a fish tank. It's always messy! If you want to save the fry, get them out as gently as possible. They need a safe place to grow.
