I think wat bro Ari is saying that one should learn to start from basics first with the simplest of equipments and substrate etc. Try to go start from the bare basics and cheaper stuff first like what Dom use to do... i.e Holland Sand, D.I.Y CO2, Peat from the Landscape Nurseries and Ferteliseres for garden centres etc etc.... Try to accomplish things the hard way using the simplest of methods to grow those plants healthily and try to progress from there. That said Aquascaping is another matter altogether. Knowing how to achieve in keeping your greens green and knowing where to place them to blend in with your rocks and driftwoods is another matter altogether. That takes some form of artistry which might or might not be pleasant to anothers eye.
