I had same experience when I first introduce moss to my tank. I dose accoridng to Dennerle instruction ended up algae all over my moss. Now I dose only 25% of the recommended dose on every water change. To my experience, moss do not need much fertilizer but they do need clean water and low temperature.

I had bad experience with SAE also.
