Yes, Remember one thing. VERY IMPORTANT. Japanese Ranchu meant for top view. No one will care what's under. But it will/might effect the swimming a little and experienced player might possible to pick that up by viewing the swimming. It all depends on the indivdual fish, hard to say.
On the other hand, for the Japanese manners, it is very very rude to pick someone fish up and turn it up side down to view. It is equivalent to someone stripping some other's son and do inpection on that kid's backside. So, be very careful on this; punches might be throwing at you if that owner is a bad temper fella. If you really want to know, ask for permission first.
