Actually, I am also learning. If not mistaken, if at 4" depth, you should be
able to see your fish. If you could not, then please change water. But sometimes, if your container is blue or it's full of carpet algae, we might see that the water is darker. Best way is to take out a bit and put it into a white base container and see the green color.The color of the green water should be like the green tea color.

Too green, only thing is worry that the ranchu might get oxgen burn on the fin. Actually, I have never seen a case, just from the website.
