Hi, to my opinion, don't ever put puffer in the tank...once it eat all snails, the fishes & shrimps are the next victim, don't ever do it.

Normally I did the old method, use a long air hose(the type for air pump use) and a container, suck the water out with the hose and then put near to the snail, automatically sucking it out to the container. Do it one by one, it is very simple, and fast can see less snail in your aquarium.

Keep some snails in your aquarium to clean up the algae, not necessary to clear all.
