1) Will probably start off with plants that require low light and easy maintainence.

FYI, I went by to 88 Marine (Sunwaymas) & Han Yang (Klang, so Bl**dy far) Both currently have very limited stock and there are not very nice. 88 Marine will have new stocks from Wednesday onwards (plants prices reasonable). will check it out later, while Han Yang (plants prices are not cheap eventhough it is in Klang) (the guy Yik says that he gets his stock from JB and as u know it, it is flooded, so not likely to get any new stocks for awhile (he gets his stocks every Friday). Kin Fatt in Kepong also very limited plants, prices are cheaper than the other 2.

2) The guy Yik says that 2x 20W are definitely not enough light. So am likely to get another set of lighting, where to get the T5 tube & how much & is it a 20w as well ? I know 88 Marine can modify my existing light, but I would rather get another one first. I have read Phillips or NEC brand light tube are good (selling at East Aqua in Ikano). Anyone know where will be a good place to get reasonable lighting set & light tube?

7) What is "PP or Peroxide will do" ?

I was told that the bio medium cannot be use after 1-2 yrs. Is this true ? (forgot the name, I have those red color looking one - for RM45 for 500g) Can the bacteria grow back again if I have used a few type of medicine in my tank with my filters on ? Dom, how much are those ADA bacteria ball ? Han Yang- they dont have it.

What about liquid fertiliser ? For maintainence having read in the forum, I can use the PDMM made by someone by the name YTLim for Rm18 (500g). Can I use this as my "all-in-one" solution for my tank to maintain my plants & substrate? This will be a cheaper alternative than those in the market that you need several types like tablets, liquids, etc. is this true ?

I hope to plant this week but I understand that there is a planted tank contest happening in Ikano this staturday, but not sure what time though ? Anyone of you go there. Will be great to meet some sifu there.

Am thinking of getting some ideas on seeing some beautiful planted tanks, before I start mine.

Cheers
I think for plants, the LFS regulate prices. HY is a big importer of plants and most of orders go thru them.
For a newbie, all plants are new. For the oldie , we know new not cheap!!!
KF is well known to give very discounted prices an is favourite of a lot of hobbyists. Enough said.

Lighting is a get it once and for all thing- buy a moderately good one that you think will last you 5 years.
Mine are all falling apart- someof the nice when new ones. Less than two years and the plastic end caps are spring loaded!

PP is potassium permanganate KMnO4- it's a disinfectant that is highly oxidizing. Bacteria and viruses burst in this solution.[practically a bomb component-as such is banned in some countries] Peroxide[H202] is oxygen bleach. Same effect. A necessity when you deal with expensive fauna and need to disinfect equipment eg netting, pails etc. Many uses.

Fertlization
Feed your plants or they die. Simple.
NPK aka macros-plants need a lot of this
Trace elements aka micros-plants need teeny amounts of this.

Basic-NPK- Nitrogen Phosphorus Potassium/Kalium
N&P produced thru nitrogen cycle when you feed your fauna. This amount is dependant on your bioload. If you get BGA then you know you have too few fauna or lack N-NO3
K you have to supply from day one.
Some of them are Brighty K, Super K, Flourish Potassium with their own secret ratios and other stuff in.

Trace elements
Premixed in secret ratios as per manufaturer
Some of these are called broad spectrum, meaning they include macros as well.
ADA has step series + their other modifiers like ECA, etc.
Sera florena, JBL ferropol, Nutrafin Iron Grow plus, Dennerle V30,
Seachem Flourish trace.
Tropica Aquacare plant nutrition[used to be TMG].

The key is to watch out for plant growth, algae growth and other things to tell what's missing or too much. That will take awhile. This is but the start...
