the black piranha (Serrasalmus niger) can grow to 14inch (36cm) in the natural habbitat.

i wouldn't recommend keeping them or it in anything small, or with poor filtration. i used to keep a shoal of 4 red bellied piranha's (Serrasalmus nattereri) and they grew to about 6inch from birth in around a year.
