Hi Sushi,

Obviously, you don't know who to ask @ Jln 222 MOX. Hahha...yes the MOX tanks are too expensive, but you can still buy tanks from outside and refill it there. I have a 6kg Co2 tank which was converted from a medical O2 tank. At first one the guy told that they won't accept my tank, not following specs bla bla bla.....then one guy was very helpful and took my tank in, have to repaint my co2 tank because the current color is for medical use. I'll collect my tank this coming Friday. Ask for Loges @ Jln 222 if you want to refill Co2.

Yo bro isaac! So how much was your modified CO2 cannister? Where on earth did u get it? Actually, I'm a little confused about this kg/L thingy. Some are quoting kg, some are quoting L. Is 1 kg equal to 1L? Also, aluminium cannisters are lighter than steel ones. So does that mean a 3kg aluminium cannister has more capacity than a 3kg steel cannister?

Sushi dude..

My O2 tank was free given by someone but it costs about rm90 to convert the valve for Co2. If you are looking for small ones, you can easily buy 2-3kg ones for less than rm300. I suggest don't bother about the aluminium ones, since they are too expensive. I have one 500g Mr Aqua aliminium cyclinder for backup, it's light but I find the valve too sensitive and spoil easily. Btw, kg or litre(1kg=1litre) is the amount of gas that can fill the cylinder and not the weight of the cylinder.

erm... 1 kg of water is 1 liter. 1 kg of co2 liquid is not. metric dude. they normally put you tank on a scale and fill it in. let it set for awhile[liquify] then refil again to get the weight up to the tank capacity depending on what your tank size. HTH.

Stan,

Interesting...can you explain further? When ppl say 3kg tank...i thought they mean the tank can fit 3kg worth of gas... so...which is the correct unit that we should use? 3kg or 3L?

erm, if you read analyze post, it means that 1 liter of co2 liquid is not 1 kg, the weight of CO2 liquid is different from water in the same amount of space. it's like 1 liter of mercury is way heavier than 1kg. geddit?

you are right when lfs say 3 kg tank,[this weight excludes the empty weight of the tank itself] this means it can fit 3kg of liquified CO2 but it doesn't mean there's 3 liters of CO2 in there.

so the correct term is 3 kg of gas[liquid] not liters...only pure H20 is 1 kg = 1 liter.

FYI Liquid density of CO2 is (at -20 °C (or -4 °F) and 19.7 bar) : 1032 kg/m3 so it's close.
excuse me, just being anal-ytical. haha.

NOW that's enlightening for me. Thanks for pointing out before I make a fool out of myself again. Now i'll stick to using "kg" for my Co2...hahahaha

I called MOX today...my tank is ready for collection. In the end they are not charging me for anything else other than the gas which cost RM34 for about 6kg...Good deal i would say.

that a very good deal. 6kg CO2 tank is a very big tank.
it seems you have very good persuasive powers to get it filled at MOX.

lfs charge like RM30 for a 2kg tank.

6kg is damn big? My cabinet can fit those standard fire extinguisher 9kg models... so I'm just wondering, how tall is this 6kg unit and how big is the diameter? Can other forumers come forward with your CO2 specs and prices and where you bought it? I'll compile a buyer's guide for everyone to benefit.
