redriver,
I visited them today... Sykt City Corporation. No.30, Jalan 13/108C, Tmn Sungei Besi. 57100 KL ( Along Sg. Besi Highway towards KL from Sg. Besi after the 2nd toll ( 1st toll is near palace of golden horses ) ) Look for Ah Leong.. he quoted me a 4.5Kg CO2 cylinder for RM150 and he will change/convert the fire extengisher cylinder head with a connector/switch suitable for CO2 so that you can screw in the manual or solenoid regulator to it.. ( regulator not included with RM150 ) Read from other website that it is beter to use a regulator with 2 gauges ( one for cylinder pressure and 1 for pressure the gass is being released ) Is solenoid regulator easy to spoil ? Any brands to recommend or avoid ?? Price ranges for solenoid rgulator?? Stan Last edited by stan088 : 29-10-2004 at 11:21 AM. |

Oh-oh, newbie question alert... what is the difference between a manual regulator and a solenoid regulator?
Hmm, RM150 for a cylinder is pretty cheap! If a solenoid regulator costs RM250-280, how much does a manual regulator cost? Okay, so let's calculate: Cylinder : RM150 Solenoid regulator: RM250 C02 Gas: RM20 Beautiful planted tank: Priceless. Not bad, I would say. Last edited by Cruise Control : 29-10-2004 at 10:29 AM. |

Solenoid is a electricity operated valve which shut off without electricity, thus it will not release CO2. Manual regulator is just that, manual!!! Once you've adjusted the volume, it will remain so until shut off manually. Reason for solenoid is to ensure CO2 released when there's light off when there's none. FYI CO2 only needed during photosynthesis.
Manual regulator cost between RM60-RM100 per pc. Cheers, KG
