Incorrect. Siamese Algae Eater (SAE), False SAE and Flying Fox are different species of carp. We're only interested in the true and original SAE for planted aquaria due to their algae eating behavior. Very often False SAE and Flying Fox being incorrectly sold as SAE.

beside SAE,the tiger snail is the best alga eater..no matter what alga, but they lay egg......and if you dont take it off it will stay forever in your tank.

Hey ming han, see my prev. post...I used to keep about 10 SAE, 2 CAE and a few Fly Foxes...From my experience, the most hardworking ones are CAEs...the only problem with them is the larger CAE tends to bully the smaller CAE..but they are quite ok with other inhabitants. And also SAE seems to be more sensitive than other species of alga eater...I lost all my SAE, only left with a few CAE and FF only...!!!
ok just my 2 cents!!!

My SAE...CAE..& FF

I do not like CAE and it tend to suck on my bigger fish than the algae. Now just left with pleco (nasty on plants), oto and false SAE. Still on lookout for true SAE.
