Default CO2 Reactor

i have 2 kinds of CO2 reactor with me
1 is the SERA kind while the other id the DYMAX
my aquarium is only 1.5 ft
if i put the DYMAX reactor, it will consume a lot of space
i will save space if i use the SERA reactor
but is the SERA or DYMAX better?
or is the one with the bio balls inside better?
im using a pressurised tank
and EHEIM LIBERTY hang on filter

Don't ever use SERA, it can't work for nutz as I have found out the hardway, don't know how they can get away with claims saying it can work for 800 litres or 300 litres, the one which is supposed to work for 800 litres can't even mix enough CO2 for my 180 litre tank! Geramnya!

NA SS19 sells a small external reactor RM50+... but some people says it is useless...

You can try to only use half of the Dymax reactor to save space.... see if it is as effective as using the full length...

I used to use the UP 5 bioballs reactor... so far found this dymax one the better co2 reactor...

I try to power it with a powerhead of output of an external cannister... same results... powerhead give a much better water circulation.

i realised det my DYMAX is leaking
CO2 is coing out not from the bottom
but rather from the centre
so the effect is quite lost
if i use a 300L/H powerhead, will it be enough?

tuckz,

My opinion is that any powerhead will do just fine... the concept is still the same principle... water comes down from the top, co2 comes up from the bottom...

Try to make it so that co2 comes out from the bottom but also not too hard as it might break the plastic... place it in such a way that the water will need to make the maximum turn to get to the next lower disc...

dun worry.. for my dymax, some of the co2 comes out from the top of the reactor where the water flow is the highest... and some is coming out from the bottom of the atomizor...and i am only at the output of 1 bps.

One of the method to see if the reactor is effective is to see if there are any CO2 gasses being released from the reactor.... if it is mixed fully, there should be no or minimal bubbles being released from the reactor..

Well... for mine, those tiny bubbles always get push out into the aquarium and get circulated all over the tank...

Stan
