Well this is what I went through the last I time I had BGA. Correct, it is only caused by a lack of NO3 or/and a lack of circulation at that particular spot. If you don't believe, try this, put a power head just above the place with BGA, the BGA will dissappear, assuming you have sufficient NO3 of course. The last time I had BGA, my NO3 readings were zero. I added KNO3 until my NO3 reached btw 5-10mg/l. After I added the KNO3, all BGA disappeared. No need blackouts. Blackouts will also work, but in the end you will still need to address the NO3 or circulation issue, if not the same problem will occur again.

I bought my KNO3 (Green Light Stump Remover) from MidValley's ACE Hardware and thats the only place in PJ/KL which I know of at the moment which sells this.

Like I said...ytl and overdrive seem like agreed is due to lack of NO3. so, do you think yr new tank with enough NO3? Or you just addind the old water? Or you have enough fishes or feeding to balance up the NO3.

Normally new tank is lack of NO3. cause of we up the tank and not introduce any live stock in immediately. And where is the NO3 come from? Unless you mixed with some old water. So, the old gravel which with bacteria formed.

I don't think blackout will help much. It is stop or slow down the BGA growing. But the existing BGA will remaining there. coz i tried that before. The stump removal (KNO3) is good enough to balance up the NO3 level of yr tank.

I saw some stump removal in Ikano Ace Hardware shop. Beside there, that is a hardware shop located in new wing of 1 U selling it.
