If you really wanted to have a wall of riccia, you will have to find a way to get some lighting from the side of the tank so that the part that attaches to the netting/mesh gets enough light and does not disintegrate.

Theoretically, it is possible, and you may want to try it out, if you have highly directional light pointed towards the wall at a certain angle. Otherwise, pretty tough luck. |

Riccia wall? Sound intersting.... left, right or back side of the tank?
If you put the wall kind of slanting a bit(say at the angle of 10degree with the glass wall), your riccia wall might have a better chance to get more light compare to just vertical straite down. Else, the top portion might growth well and shade the bottom portion..... |

Slanting is good idea. but some nasty fish/shrimp would go and stay under there - the space between the aq wall and the riccia wire mesh. have to make sure there's no access point for them to slip in. will try tonight if got time.
BTW, these are some riccia planted. some on rock, some sandwiched in wire mesh...notice the leopard cory on black net, and ramshorn snail on the green rock?
