I've recently purchased an aquatic plant which I thought to be Cabomba, however, after searching the internet I'm finally sure that it's a species called Myriophyllum matogrossense. Now my question is does anyone know the common name for this species??? Seems unable to find it on the net.
Kinda nice to see some of the LFS here in Kuching stocking aquatic plants..... Btw, for any Kuchingite aquarists interested in getting their hands on aquatic plants, do visit Khing Sua Aquarium located in BDC (new shops near the roundabout to the Airport). You can also get variety of fish...no more flowerhorn!!!!! HURRAH!!!! Not that I hate them though... |

Hello Hemio, I'm very sure it's a matogrossense due to this very clear picture of the species : http://plantgeek.net/myriophyllum_matogrossense.htm So back to my original question, anyone the common name of this plant??? Btw, Hemio, good news...the java fern you sent to me are sprouting new leaves and the java moss are doing fine too. My guppies really love it. |

Nice plant....
Err, and not all plants have 'common names'. Common names are for common plants, and even so they're a pain the the back side as common names are non-standard and vary everywhere u go. Scientific name= no confusion. |

Btw, just out of curiousity, anyone else is keeping this plant??? |

Erm Hemio,
There seems to be no true root structure for this plant. Anyway, I just got it. So it's either hasn't really root yet or there's no real root. One thing though, this plant is kinda fragile : ie; it breaks easily, so it's only ideal for tanks with small fish and low current. |

Hmm, now that u mention it's brittle, could it also be Ceratopteris siliquosa?

Freakmaster, I saw their new box of new arrivals yesterday! If I'm not mistaken, I saw about 5 driftwoods of Christmas Moss on it!! Go buy it now else you'll regret it forever! I think I also saw water wisteria (hygrophilia Difformis). Yesterday they told me they haven't priced their new arrivals yet so I don't know how much it costs... but the help there said it could be RM15 for a stick about 15cm long. |
