Default Riccia Fluitans (Crystalwort)

Riccia Fluitans is a very quick growing plant if given the right conditions: High CO2 and hight light intensity with adequate nutrients.

First picture: Riccia growing emerse. The plant in the middle is Micranthemum Umbrosum.

Second & Third picture: Riccia growing submersed. Pearling is an indicator that the plant is actively growing.

Default Hygrophila Polysperma

Very easy to grow, even in non CO2 supplemented aquaria. Extremely fast grower. Good indicator of the presence of nutrient deficiencies.

Yeah, can be found in local rivers, but must be the "virgin" ones. Actually got mine frm a fren who got them from local river.

Tonina Belem.

Survives under moderate light. Grows like weed under highlight. If you're using highlight, you should be getting 1-2 inches a week, else there's clearly something wrong somewhere.

Rumours has it only does well in acidic soil (ADA). Some sources has said it doesn't matter what soil you use, but the plant generally does well if there's a high amount of CO2, KNO3 and phospates. According to some other sources, the leaves tend to be smaller and finer if the water is cooler. I grew it in 30 Degrees, not a very good temperature for plants.

Propagation by cutting off stems and replanting them again. Give it some time and roots will grow.

The best shot I had, out of the many other lousy shots.

Glossostigma.

It will survive under moderate lighting. However it tends to grow upwards. Growth is slow.

Under high light, growth is like weed. Likes a lot of CO2.

A lot of importance should be placed during the planting phase. Once planted wrongly, the plant will not root properly to the gravel and looks as though it is floating above the gravel (something which is not wanted). In fact, it have a tendency to grow upwards if not properly planted. Perfect foreground plant for tanks with high light.
