Default Metal halide

I am having problems for planting glosso. My tank is 2 feet in depth and I am using 8 Power-glo but the glosso do not seem to grow very well. They just move up loosely rather than forming like a carpet. I was thinking to DIY (metal halide), but I am not sure how many Watt and how many Kelvin is essential. Can anyone advise where to buy a “cheaper” metal halide? Thailand? Singapore? I have seen some metal halide in the market (8 but it is too costly. And I am also wondering if it will over heat without chiller?
Please kindly advice.

jln pasar lighting shop. or the light tubes n equipments supplier in SS2. same row with gloriajean coffee. selling those china brand MH casing, ballast n bulb. Price is around RM250 for 150W n 10000K. if 70W...shd be cheaper. try to get 8000K. 10000K is a bit higher.

i m using 150W 10000K. too bright. heat will generated the temp up to 35-40C. (I was once forgotten to turn on the chiller.)

I am a too stingy to invest on a chiller. Does the cooling fan work? How about 4 fans for a 5 feet tank? I know it looks a bit ugly but no choice, money not enough leh.
Dom, do you mind if I pay you a visit to see your lighting system?

one powerful one is good enough to bring it down to 27+c

the four in one fan is ok. but weak IME.

i use the 2 in one fan for my 5 footer but the temp hovering at 28c
