I went and take a look just to survey the price vs my budget, but found that almost all the tank readymade cover only come with 1 PL light @ 11w or 13w.... and there is no place to add in another tube.... I see 1 in KW(Pg) sold at RM150, I guess is 2f x 2f, only come with 11w light in the cover.....
Is all sifu tank's cover(including the light) all DIY?
the cover u mention are the one design for keeping fish ...not plants. those covers...Guppy i presume looks nice, and i was tempted .....hahaha...they have a feeder compartment ...flip the cover and throw in the food. good idea...

u can get the cover actually..but set your lighting on top of the tank itself using a glass frame...diy. its gonna be diffcult fixing lights to a plastic cover.

Most tanks don't come prepared for planteds. Extra lights are one of the highest costing things when starting a new planted tank. Usually don't use covers for planted. With the light fixtures creating heat and cover preventing fresh air flow... the tank can get very warm and thus not suitable for planteds.. unless you use a chiller.. for which you need an even higher budget.

co2, lights, chiller, Bankcrupt.

yaya.... Guppy brand. Their tank is really nice. With the water filter at 1 end of the plastic cover and light casing on the other end.... and a flip cover to feed the fishes. Only one downside:no enough light .

Most ready made hoods are only suitable for plants with low light requirements...

the blaast fix outside of the tank like this lo...bery easy la...some more no need worry about heat from blast ...but nowday the electronic blaast tara panas punya...not like the old fashion metal blaast ..switch on for a few hours only...can smell like wire burning

Thanks ari. Will keep this setup idea in mind. Will try to put it into reality when I decided to opt for a new tank...

mike, try to draw up your wiring idea and post here for the gurus to comment....

Hi ari,
I have some ballast that looks like yours, but i found that...the wiring is not very long only...
As i mean not long cause, 1 end is long, another end is very short only...
So...DID YOU modified the wirings as your ballast is at the bottom, and lights are on top of your tank, roughly about 3 to 5 feet long wor...
Mind to share how you did the modifications? Well, if you have done any lah...hehe
Thanks in advance.

Regards,
John

Hi Ari,

Had used those 13 bucks MIC[made in china] e ballast before and it blew in 6 months. Many great things come from China but not the one i'm using. Both blew like a couple of weeks apart.

Would lik to know where to get some quality e ballast for my 36W pl's.
