With ADA, you don't need to play scientist so you can concentrate on aquascaping.

Hi,
True, true...can concentrate more on aquascaping..once use ADA soil, no looking back for me...I will try to use it for my next tank...if got money laying around..muahahahaa... Anyway, Dom, the shop are having closing down sales, some 20%-30% discount on fish foods, some discount on tank, some 10%-20% on equipment (pumps, filters), but right now, not many left. Actually this branch shop is moving to main shop in Cheras early of next month. But could always bargain for a good price. Here is another display tank at the shop, some sort of Zen aquascaping, with a lot of Hairgrass. I don't have the opportunity yet to do this kind of aquascaping. Maybe someday, though. The tank, 4ft X 2ft X 2ft, with 6 X 36W ADA PLL, filtered by Eheim 2028 and cooling by a ready made fan. The substrate is ADA Malaya aquasoil, nice color contrast to the hairgrass. The CO2 diffuser is of Azoo brand, if not mistaken. ![]() Right stone ![]() Left stone ![]() One more thing, this tank was entered to 2006 ADA contest, so watch out for this tank placing....muahahahaha... Best Regards |

btw, this kind of Zen setup won't get top 100. You can see from the last few years entries. Mostly are stem plants setup won the top... |

This is not the full shot so i think i shall reserved judgement.
Looks good but judging from previous contests, the first impression is not quite as high. The plant condition could be better. Other than that the layout is rather format. The most unispiring of the layouts IMO because i don't have memories of rockhill and grass plains. [blame me!] IMO you need to get the super duper rocks to score high in this category of zen layout. regards Stan

Agree, Zen scapes usually don't score high in ADA unless the rocks placement are super nice. It's not easy to do a Zen scape that leaves an impression because the rocks you use need to have that kind of impression.
It's also not easy to pick rocks and select rocks, so I will reserve my ideas for Zen scape until I can find some nice rocks which may take years in coming.

Wait a minute. it is a full shot. must be computer not loading all the pix. hahaha. oops.
Well in that case i'd say the layout is good but perhaps too balanced on both sides. IMO right side rock should be smaller and a few more scattered around it. More detailed, rounded and veiny rocks would score higher. That said, we have to play with what we can find and that is the challenge. Finding great pieces of rock that is. Regards Stan
