hmmm...some apistos are more aggressive...esp the big mouth types like cacatouides. agree ADA soil does give great growth for the harder ones like tonina's and erioucaulons...

Very nice nasfish! ECA would not be cost effective for a tank this size. Ironbottom would be better. An odd driftwood on the back right corner. But I guess once Vallisneria mature, it would be ok. Once glosso cover the front, Bolbitis, Vallisneria and Blyxa matures it will be perfect. Nice selection of fish. Sigh.... How I wish I got a longer tank.

Nice tank... I think I remember commenting on this tank a long time back. Or was it a different tank?
Good job on mixing all the plant types together, now keeping them is one thing, it sure isn't easy to get all the stem plants to peak at the same time. I like your cinerum, how long have you been keeping them? They look ugly when they have flowers stretching out too far. Normally, I choose to trim the flowers off...hahaha Can you comment on the usage of ADA Brightly K, Step 1, Step 2? Just wondering on the economy side of using them and the extra oomph that ADA products has compared to others. I think Dom is using them too..hhehehe.. Am trying JBL ferropol(because I can get discounts) now since I was told it is good for Mosses. *&#$@ ADA agent is so stingy to give discounts to LFS.

In my opinion, the picture turn out to be fantastic and nice although it may not reflect the actual colour. I just set up a tank a month ago with ADA spec (substrate, FL, skimmer, brightly K). I spent quite a lot for just for a 2.5 feet tank. that is why I ask for a 4 feet tank setup cost. I am a novice both in aquatic planting and photography and the learning curve is going to be steep.
Have been using Brightly K since, to pump in potassium since day 1. A bottle is about RM56. Skip step 1 and will be going to step 2 later. Again nice setup and hope we can share the experience together. peace |

hi,
Thanks guys for the feedback. Frankie, I have been using ECA for 3 months now, 10 drops 2-3 times a week. Although ECA comes in small bottle (50ml), it will last at least 22 weeks for my tank. The math : 10 drops = 0.75ml 30 drops (10 drops X 3 times a week) = 3 X 0.75ml = 2.25ml per week So 1 bottle (50ml) = 50/2.25 = 22 weeks and chelated iron a long with some beneficial organic acids, I am OK with this. isaacgoh, Yes, it is the same tank. Posted about it on 'another' forum a while back. I have been keeping E. Cinereum since this tank setup. Initially only bought two of this plant. But manage to propagate it to 9 baby plants. Very very beautiful plant. Early this plant looks very sad as shown in the picture below. Like want to 'cabut' and throw away. But with patience, soon the E. Cinereum produce many many baby plant at the base. ![]() ![]() About using ADA liquid ferts, I must say the brighty K added daily is quite expensive. According to the dosing instruction, 1ml per 20liter, so for my tank I have to dose at least 10ml daily. Right now I am dosing 5ml instead. Have been looking for the alternative. As for Brighty Step series, I am ok with it. If you do the math actually it is quite reasonable compared to other liquid ferts brand. Later I will try to provide details math on it. callisto168, How much do you dose Brighty K daily for your 2.5 ft tank?. Why do you want to skip Step1 to Step2?. How old is your tank anyway? There is a reason why ADA makes this Step series...as for me go slow and steady...don't want any problem later, algae esp. medowance, if yamatos always hiding, there is something off in your tank. at least that is what a guy, jsenke said in the aquatic plant central forum. standoyo, i mus agree with you, too many type of plants. I just can't resist it, want to try all..hehehehe.. Best Regards Thanks Last edited by nasfish : 04-04-2006 at 09:22 PM. |
