Laterite is a good source of iron only. Other nutrients have to be provided, unlike the chicken pellets, which is a 'complete' fertilizer. Did you use other ferts when you were doing this experiment? By the way, how does the garden shop sell the laterite?

Now that we've come to the topic of tasting ferts... anyone tasted ADA soil before? How does it taste like? Sour? Sweet? Bitter?

the laterite... they sell by packet, 1 packet at my place only rm4, very big pack, around 5kg or more... not sure but i can say is big. during the experiment no extra fert, just use the laterite, glosso and hairgrass and result no use at all the laterite.

the bonsai fert, will post the pic on mon, my dc is at my gf place.yup when in the water no smell.

taste soil.... i can say the result would be bitter and acidic like wine..kekekeke

Default New Setup for Reds

heres the new red plant tank i mention that i was going to setup after the World Cup....well...might as well set it up now...before they clean out my wallet....totally

i would beforehand like to thank all the sponsors who help contribute to make this setup possible...and i would state their names on the parts they help purchase

TanK: 4 footer....sponsor by Tim Cahill
Filteration: Jet 3388....Spain
LIghtings: ...Switerzland
Co2:....Poland
Blower fan;...Equador
Light casing material;....Fernando Torres
Basic long term ferts;...Herna Crespo
Timers and electronic ballast, wirings ....Christian Ronaldo
Stand: sapu from Hotel Melia...hello, i ask first before naik lori hor ...not curi
one hor
now lets see if France would get some cash in for purchase of plants

well..lets get the ball rolling ....starting off with lightings.

philips PLL 865 36watt x 4
philips PLL 827 36 watt X 2
Azoo PLL 10,000k 36watt X 2
Ai.M sun glow 30 watts X 2
Hitachi 30 watts pink light x 1
Pudu pasar 30 watt blue light x 1

total...408 watts

for initial stage the Azoo pairs and blue light will not be used.
they will be added in after 4 weeks.

the tank!...the 3 footer beside it does look dwarf huh

here are the stuffs needed to build the PLL casing. instead of spending money on ready made casing which is of course si beh expensive...u should DIY them ..its easy actually if u have the know how... i show u how if u dont

here is a half completed single PLL casing made from 2 x2 inch pvc wiring casing brackett. metal foil would used as reflextor.

OK siap ...ready to pakai.

for the 20 inch single PLL casing its easy to shape the pvc into the desired shape...just stand on the darn thing, and let your body weight do the rest...
but for double 45 inch PLL casing...standing on it all day will not help ..u need a heating machine, the one use for bending palstic sheets.
this photo shows the Pvc bend into shape and the other is in its original form

here a pair of casing before painting. the sides were made with spare pvc sheet cover , glued with gum gajah . sand down with sandpaper. before painting, the whole casing must be sanded down for better paint grip. spary painted with black. i use 6 layers of spray for a smooth surface ...never ever try to finish the job in one application ...wat u will get is lots uneven, hand sticking paint. take your time..... one thin layer at a time.

a painted casing and a completed set....

i always take the extra trouble to do neat wirings...for safety measure...i sure hate to get burn when one of those wires get wet in an untidy wired light casing

Excellent skills Ari. By looking at your pictures, I've picked up other tips as well - like the cabinet. This should be known as the World Cup planted tank due to the sponsors. I can bet Ukraine won't be sponsoring anything huh.
