Why don't you run an experiment and tell us what you find out. Not like anyone here is a phD in plant biology . Ask Tom Barr. My uneducated opinion is... plants will absorb it when they need it... and I guess they only need it when they're growing/working.

Like I have the time in the world to run experiments, not to mention the tanks and equipments for such tests. :P

Am very tempted to ask Tom for his advice but his website requires us to subcribe and pay money. When it comes to money, naturally....hahaha

"My uneducated opinion is... plants will absorb it when they need it... and I guess they only need it when they're growing/working." but when is the best time? You could just dose any time without knowing actually most are going to waste because of oxidisation.

They are growing and working when lights turn on? I don't know which is the trigger for it to grow... whichever is highest on priority, lights, nutrients or co2 :P.

What you're asking is the biological clock of the plants.. when they "wake up" maybe that will help your google search string.

The clock controls an enzyme that modifies a protein, D1, which is critical to photosynthesis.

Mattoo explains that every morning, D1 binds phosphorus. This process peaks before noon, providing a plant with a biotiming signal that tells it to adjust its metabolism to face the onset of the day's brightest light. This adjustment likely helps plants fare better when faced with the highest light intensities, which hinder photosynthesis.

Nah, dose kaw kaw before noon then kaw tim.

Eh by the way... Plants that normally close up at night. If you cover it and don't give it any light, will they still open in the morning if there's no light? Will it KNOW it's morning? Ahhhhh

Hmm...dose phophorus "kau kau" before noon to prepare for onset of the brightest light. But how about other nutrients lah...like Dom said, they need different nutrients at different times during the photosynstesis. It's getting too technical now...AHHGGHHHH!
