Yes but you will need to use high intensity ones and they do not come cheap... cost is the major factor at the moment.

LED are bright...
But i'm wondering...do they last LONG? or VERY LONG?
And my point is...when it last no matter how long, will the light intensity drop?

Regards,
John

Hello....

Threre's a place i have read that the led lasted 100,000 hours, if i'm not mistaken... last time at lelong it sold at RM8.00 for 10 leds.... i heard that led is more power efficient than normal lights.... i'm trying to use 8 led for my 1.5' tank that filled with riccia.... dunno it is going to pearl o not.... plus led produce less heat....

I would try the lower light stuff first. Riccia requires quite a lot of light. 8 LEDs is definitely not enough.
