I have used Azoo, but have discontinued. Seems to turn my mosses to algae magnets. Besides that, I have also tried Sera. Quite decent, but I find that I need to dose quite a bit for decent plant growth. The same goes for Hagen Nutrafin PlantGro. Currently using JBL ferropol and it seems to be great. Might want to try brighty K though.

Hi,
On my current tank, I've tried Sera's and JBL ferropol. With mosses being the main plant in my tank(Mystical Rainforest), I can't seem to master the dosage nor the timing of using Sera. After being told by Dom that one of the local LFS which growed beautiful mosses is using JBL, I decided to give it a try. I am really satisfied with it given that there are something inside JBL's ferropol which makes it so effective for mosses. After using ferropol, my mosses seems to give a better color and shine if you know what I mean for moss lovers. If you are growing mosses, and other brands doesn't seem to you the desired results, you can probably try ferropol. Haven't tried other brands on my current tank, so it doesn't mean they are not good, am tempted to try ADA but cost is abit on the high side. My dosing method (unscientific way and using agak agak measure) is one capful of ferropol after each weekly water change(1/4) for a 150gallon tank. First time of using ferropol, I followed the instruction roughly which states how many ml per gallon of water. Subsequently, only does the required amount after each water change. Sometimes, every 1 or 2 days, I'll dose 1/3 of a cap. Something I found on JBL in AQ, "is JBL ferropol a complete fertiliser?" http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ead.php?t=4120 Rgds, Isaac

Great feedbacks guys,
I am also have been using JBL Ferropol in my 2 feet tank (with JBL Aquabasis base fertiliser). I don't know for sure if other factors involved, but the moss in this tank looks much better than my other 2.5 feet tank dose with Hagen Nutrafin Plant Gro. I dose 3-4ml Ferropol (outer screw top) daily. Best Regards |

aha!
I'm another satisfied JBL Ferropol user! And another thing i found good is...JBL Ferropol 24(contain higher Fe i guess?) Not to say i'm advertising, but it's good for my Ludwigia repens(hope i get the name right), after i dose that daily, it really brings the red of the ludwigia come out. And recently i used up my Ferropol 24...and after few days of not dosing it, the Ludwigia's new leafs are fresh green color again... Regards, John |

Hi John,
I am not sure it is because of JBL Ferropol (or Ferropol 24) in your case, but my Rotala Rotundifolia sp. red in Ferropol dosed 2 feet tank is not red but instead green, yellow to orange. Other factors might have to do something with it, like NO3 level and the lighting intensity. Some says lower NO3 level and intense lighting will bring out the red followed by some Fe dosing. But of course running lower NO3, you at risk inducing BGA. Everything have to be in balance. By the way, what is your NO3 level (ppm) and lighting (wpg). Care to share and help bring out the red?. I used Tetra FloraPride before and cause a lot of algae. I have switch to JBL Feropol and quite satisfied with the result. As for Seachem fert I only manage to see 1 shop in Penang selling. As for TMG and OceanFree fert I can find any shop selling in Penang. By the way ADA Brighty Steps Series sell at RM 56 is quite cheap. In Penang 250ml cost RM 79 (correct me if I am wrong). |

Hi,
Good thread, from experience, sera makes a decent combo. The florena/florenette combo works and grows swords and other plants generally well. Nutrafin products work well too and cheaper as well. ADA has everything to fine tune your needs when you understand each of the fert's individual function. Dennerle works pretty well but is kinda pricey to start up. With exception to ADA which has products in steps, somehow or rather we need loose ferts to balance up all these other manufacturer's premix combo ferts. Some KH2PO4, K2SO4 and KNO3 helps to fine tune the needs of the tank. These are useful to combat GSA, K deficiency and BGA. Regards Stan
