Most of the popular fertilization methods out there have the same goal[algae free tanks!] and the never work for a tank that is already infected heavily with algae. You have to start with a clean tank!

The important thing is to work with known elements.
Don't be smart and dig soil from your garden. [to me it's a big risk]
If you are lucky it does not contain toxins.
Heavy metals, asbestos etc.
If you are not you might be put off from aquascaping because a rock has been leaching toxins that kill off the beneficial bacteria causing a domino effect of disasters.
Something unknown like that will skew your experience path.

Default Moss

I hardly use any fertilizers for my moss. I find that they grow better with higher CO2. My Erect, Java, Christmas, Singapore moss have all become 'rojak moss' now and I am unable to distiguish them. I find that moss looks beautiful at a certain stage of growth and then doesn't look so nice anymore until you 'replant' them. Does anyone else have the same experience?

They only look nice tied to something. If left without anchor they look like a mess from XP.
