Default Best Fertilizer to grow Moss?

Went to NA saw their MOSS grow very nicely in the moss tank...
the volume of the moss is so thick... and nice.. about 1inch plus..
I wonder how to grow moss like that?
Any suggestion what fertilizer to use that is best for Moss?

Hi,

In my experience, to grow nice and lush moss, temperature is the most important thing. Clean water too. I have been using all kind of fertilizer for growing moss (java moss, chritmas moss, weeping moss..), from Hagen, JBL to ADA, all is fine as long as temperature is around 26șC or lower.

Regards

aq plant lover,

NA is stand for Natural Aquatic World which located in Malaysia, Subang Java, SS19.

Mosses and liverworts growing well in between 24-26C. Try ADA Brighty K and ADA Step 2.

Hi Nick,

NA's moss tank used dernelle fertiser as told by some members. There's a small discussion on how to dose Dernelle fertiliser in the following link. The entries on how to dose are by Stan Chung (He's the top aquascaper in Malaysia this year).

Hi Nick,

If I'm not mistaken, you mentioned to me that you are using Dennerle S7, E15 & V30 + Eheim Filter Substrate when we met up last month. Did you manage to lower your water temperature?

In my personal opinion(not worth much), I am starting to feel that for moss tank, it's more important to dose trace element. I am using Ferropol 24 with my Spiky/peacock moss, they are growing nicely and thick.

For my personal experience, Sera Fe is good enough. Remember the year 2005 No.48 tank from NA? They was using Sera Fe. Dose 2-3 drops daily when the lighting is turned off.

And i had checked with year 2005 ADA No.2 winner Wayne Sham from HK. He told me he is using Brighty K + Step 2. But then he is using MH. Temp was 24-26C.

hmm.. yeah I did lower my water temp. but recently got algea problem.. headache.. dunno if is it the fert is too much. and too little plants inside.. has got hair, staghorn, bba inside.. but i have introduce a SAE inside now.. it seems still under control... getting less and slightly less..
YES put a fan liao.. got the temp to lower by 1 degree only...
Any other way to make moss grow nicer?
Darn.. I want to have a stable tank like NA's..
The SAE seems to be the culprit always kacau my moss.. sometimes can find loosed moss flying around... which was not happening before I introduce the SAE..

SAE should NOT be in a long term moss tank. They can be introduced only as temporary cleaning crew. Reason being, you don't need to spend extra money to get stringy moss, the SAE will trim your "triangular" shaped moss into stringy mosses. LOL
