Common one also I have. Incidentally, since we on this topic. Those guai lou judges at ADA don't know anything about aquascaping. Stupid tank with a few strands of valis also can be top 50. See also makes me wanna quit hobby already but then after thinking the reason I came into this hobby is not to enter competition then only feel more lega.

Pellia: Coral pellia, Normal pellia, Medium pellia?, Wild mini pellia.

Different ppl hv different taste mah. just like some of us thought the last year ADA 2nd or 3rd or other are much more better than the no 1. But some of them might tot the number 50 is the best. If the number so important to you...then you hv to spend lot of time n money to learn n have a top aquascaping.

if not, we can just up whatever we want...enter the competition...just to get the book! for me...i hope to win a trip to japan will do. Heard top 5 can join the party fully paid by ADA. so...must work hard to get top 5. (still in day dream....)

Never try never get.
It's all about participation.
In preparation for participation can learn a lot of things.
Must always look at other people's tanks and see things. Like how clear their water is, how healthy and beautiful the leaves are, how nicely arranged it is etc.
Then look at your own tank.
Why the quality so different one?
Why people's tank is so 'Hwoarr!' and your own is Hmmm?

The competition is fair as the judges are from all over the world.
The judges i'm sure have seen more tanks than we have and do have their own taste.
[unfortunately some of them may have missed some duds!]
Hey otherwise got nothing to talk about!

Anyway not easy to look at a 100 pictures and give perfect ranking.
