Hi Nas,
I know exactly what you mean about throwing plants away. It happens when we rescape/trim and there's excess. [Even the plant holding tanks is aquascaped now.]

Hi,
So busy with life lately, almost neglected my tanks..hehehe... Tank#1 ![]() Only have time to trim the Ludwigia repens (left)..lol Tank#2 ![]() Finally pull out the thick glosso carpet, and replanted a few, threw away the rest...but no time yet to trim the stems at the back...mmm... Amazingly, the fact that I do not dose the usual dry PO4 (ran out of KH2PO4), everything seems fine, no GSA, but I do dose Hagen NPK (following recommended dosage on the bottle). Last weekend, tried to buy some more from 88Marine, Pandan Indah but no stock, when ask, got surprise reply, "my boss no longer want to bring it in" Regards |

Looking lush and wild!
Hagen NPK includes phosphorus so that base is covered perhaps. I find it's a good product but have to be covered with micros or substrate feeding or some problems will come up. Low levels of P will lead to smaller leaves IME. Not a bad thing if you have a small tank. Less P also mean less chance of algae overrun!

Hi,
Thank you Stan. Yes, I guess Hagen NPK is enough to cover my macros, even though per dose, give me like 3.5ppm NO3, 0.5ppm PO4 and 2.5ppm K (3-4 times a week), in contrast to what I always target for 10ppm NO3, 1 ppm PO4 and 10ppm K (which is according to EI dosing guide). As for micros, I am using Hagen Plant Gro, for both tank 1 & 2, (tank 2 switched from JBL Ferropol for about a month now). With somewhat more lean NO3 dosing, finally I get some red plants (L. aromatica, stellata, repens etc) to become redder, but on constant look out for BGA... Having said that, too bad for 88Marine not to stock this great products anymore. As far as I know, their Hagen NPK and Plant Gro are the cheapest. Anybody know where to get this Hagen ferts at the same price as 88? Or maybe cheaper? The other alternative I would like to try for macros is OceanFree Liquid Fertilizer, which is actually NPK. Anybody using it? How is it? Regards |
