Default My 3' tank '2007

This is my 3' tank with only Yamato shrimps and otocinclus, and I need some helps from peoples out there. My Rotala couldn't grow nice, and the bottom part always has melting leaves, but once it grows up to the surface, the leaves are so red & nice. Please advice....thanks!!

The tank has come a long way Jason. I think this looked very good. http://www.myfishforum.com/attachmen...22-05-2007.jpg

The E tennelus is not happening- too skinny and big. Try the short japanese hairgrass instead or if you're up for it, HC or Chendol plant.

The red plant is doing well at the surface! So consider replacing with Rotala rotundifolia as per Nasir's assessment!
I would consider some taller crypts like balansae/albida to flow if you don't like the rotalas. Some Aponogeton crispus is a nice bright olive green and is easy to grow in that place too. If not, raise the soil at the back by 3 inches and plant more of the same crypts you already have there. Less types of plants may be better.

Don't think the Needle leaf is placed well at the top right as it seems unbalanced. I'd remove it. You have to manipulate your lighting so that the needle leaves point downward... looks better I think!

Overall the plants look healthy and have achieved considerable growth last we saw.

Took out some plants, and temporary place the Rotala M. at foreground to grow, because my background soil not so suitable to grow yet, now fert the soil for a short period, then move the Rotala back to background.

I think the neddle leaves not pointing up because of the lights, I reduced the right side lights to grow slow plants, prevent of BBA.

thanks, Stan! Thanks for your advice, I will keep it up, as your message to me "LESS IS MORE".
