For the ricca, you should use those netting that ppl use to wrap garlic or fruits so that the ricca will grow out of them....or directly tie them to the drift wood so that when it grows longer, it will look very nice and natural.

But maintaining ricca needs a lot of work as a lot will just float on the water surface...and need to be trim so often..

Hey Stan..I ve tried with the fine nettting..but I get better results by growing on on a plastic mesh...did u notice the middle channel in my 'scape covered with Riccia..Those Riccia are actually tie to a long strap of plastic mesh (anchored with layer of java moss )...They can be remove and position anywhere around the tank..like a wallpaper!!!

roadspike, i was unable to browse yr site n check out the pic. damn...it is amazing DIY lighting set. how you make it?? or asking ppl to make it? cost you how much?? mind to share the idea?? i wanna make one...

coz i m using 3 pieces of 4ft single light tube reflector and put it on my tank. and look ugly....light rating is not enough for my tank. And i am looking forward to other ppl DIY lighting set ideas and will make one. Btw, how much u bought the PL light tube which is the light tube in the middle one?

Pls...share with me.

Cjming, saw roadspike lighting set? My idea to hv the lighting set almost same with roadspike, but using water proof wooden material. And it cost me a bom when i got the quotation from the supplier.
You can use the same holder for the lights for your tank. But replace the FL light tubes with PL light tubes....

About the riccia, I was using the hard quality plastic net for the bottom part, and put the riccia on it. then using the fine net to cover on the riccia. tight the fine net with plastic net. then put on the gravel. use the gravel to cover side of the 4 angles. so that, the net with riccia will stay on the gravel. and when it grow...it look more natural.
High level of amonia and nitrate will kill the riccia. So, must pratice the weekly water change...

wow... If a reflector for 6 PL light tubes, will you think the rating will be too high for normal 4ft tank? unless we are using the 4x2x2 tank... The 88 marine selling the PL lighting set for 4ft is with 4 PL light tubes only.

I prefer to have the C. But the left bottom PL light tube put close to the left corner end. And the left top light tube put a bit near to the middle. Then The right top light tube put close to the right corner end and the right bottom one put in the middle. (Just like the B design. But take out the 2 light tubes in the middle.)

And the FL light tube can implement a Red and a Blue color light. As I knw, some of the plant do need red and blue light. What i watch from the Azoo VCD... they put the red light for the background plant. Blue light for middle and the white light for the foreground.

Since my tank dont hv background, middle n foreground design (use the tank to seperate the living room n dining room) So, the FL light tube in the middle like in C would be a very good idea.

Damn, cjming... u r full of the ideas. Can we start doing it now?
