No, you can't keep any other fishes with Arowana fish. They will eat anything that is moving in the water. The barbels on the front of the fish is basically meant to feel for movements in the water. you have to keep them on their own in the tank. You must be aware that Arowana fishes eats live food

It's actually ok to mix those fishes that kg_no21 mentioned together provided that the size of the other fishes are big enuff (preferably same size), the fishes are properly fed and alot of space to move around.

Ur choice of tanks mates sounds doable, except I think u'd be looking for a bigger tank to house all those thank busters. Red Hooks might be a better choice if you can ge them, than silver dollars 'cos they get bigger than the silver dollars..... plus the red hook on the anal fin and some red patches on the silver sides adds a bit more colour to the tank.

hmm... don't think that mix is a particularly good idea. we used to keep oscars and some other fish and in the end gave ALL the fish back to the fishshop coz watching our tank was like watching a battlefield.

we also have an arowana at the office, who used to share a tank with small garbage-fish (sorry, dunno the name for those fish that clean the aquarium) and one day our arowana picked up the poor garbage-fish and swam around with it in its mouth until the poor thing was so terrified. We had to change the garbarge fish for a much bigger one.

Hi,

i believe it will works..please make sure that the size of your aro is bigger than the tankmates and provides enough food for all the fishes in the tank..this will help u to minimize the fights in the tank..

I can honestly tell you that you are asking for trouble by keeping all those fishes together. You definately need a larg tank, at least 180- 200 gallons. I don't know how large is your tank, so keep the size in consideration because of the Nitrate and diseases.

I heard that the Arowana will eat anything that fits in his mouth. ISn't that true?
