Default Siamese fighting fish - problem

im really new to the whole fish-keeping business.

i got a blue/purple siamese fighting fish as a gift from my fish-savy friend a week ago. he started out in a half gallon glass bowl, and three days later i bought a 3 gallon plastic hexagon tank with the light and everything. he seemed fine, even with my 3 cats staring at him (i keep the tank on my floor). a few days later he began losing color and now burries his head under the rocks. up until today he was eating just fine, but hasn't accepted any flakes that ive given him today. i keep the filter/air pump thing off, and i am going to be getting something to put in the water for stress. otherwise i don't understand why he has been behaving so strangly. im afriad that he isn't really gonna make it for very much longer.

some advice or some help would be greatly appreciated

normally betta will change color when he got frightened..if he is eating fine then might means that the water is fine..just that the enviourment is not pretty right

Default help

My friend has a blue siamese fighting fish, she has to feed it 5 pellets a day, and lately the fish has been biting the first one then spits it back out and wont eat, does anyone have any simimiar, or had any similar problems.??

Yep... Used to have the same problem with newly bought fellas.... Until I started feeding them guppy pellets... Now they eat them like nobody's business... Heheh...

If you want to get a betta excited on eating whatever that is dunked into its tank, you should feed it live feed first... My DDR crown refused to eat anything I gave, and only ate one or two pellets a day till I filled his tank with live daphnia. After sampling the live feed, he's now game for anything I throw in.

Treat bettas like as if they are children. If they refuse to eat, it may be because they find the food boring, so change the food. Or it could be because they are sick. Be alert to the situation.

Killed the fish doesnt mean solve the problem. You need to compare the water which came with it and your house pipe water. Check on the PH and temperature. Normally Betta able to get use to all kind of water. Ph between 6-7.5 is fine for them. But the temp try to maintain around 26-30. Some betta able to survive n grow in temp of 32C.

don't place the betta where lot of human activities. Example on the floor. You can use the Indian Almond leaf to make some black water. It will help to cool down and or reduce the stress of yr fish.
