Default please help

Hi,
I was just wondering if I could get some help. My grandmother has taken an interest in bettas and I want to get her one but I don't know anything about them. I've read that the vases with peace lilies are bad habitats for them but I don't know much more. I have a few questions. How big of a tank should I get? What do I get for a filter because I also read that they like still water. What would I feed it and where would I get the food? Do they get along with other fish? I was thinking that maybe I could get him one of those sucker fish (the ones with the name that's impossible to pronounce) to help keep the tank clean. I can't think of any other questions right now.

Thanks in advance,
Bethany

1) tank : 1 - 2 feet is enough. (for just 1 betta)
2) filter : hang on filter is enough
3) food : red worm (every LFS have)
4) other fish : depends how angry is ur betta, if very powerful, i think no need to put other fish cause either one of them will injured. maybe u try to buy some kelah or anything inside. Bandaraya or cleaning snail also can put inside help for cleaning purpose.
5) other : betta is very easy to keep. no worry. first time, u must buy a local betta fish first for testing purpose. after 1 week or 2 week, u can buy pretty with expensive betta.

hope it can help!!

hey I agree with above comment. I would just advise against your suggestion of a sucker fish. they can really annoy your fish by sucking onto their sides. I've got my male bettas in a betta house attached to the inside of my 3ft tank. a large vase with a heater and frequent partial water changes will keep a betta happy.
