Question Fin rot?

Hi,

I just got my first betta fish today. He is now living in a 10 gallon tank with filteration. He has been swimming around and checking his new environment out. However, I realized that his tail and fins are tipped black. I have read about fin rot but I'm not sure if he has it. His fins are not frayed like the describtions say. It could just be the way his fins are colored. But I also noticed a little bit of white on one of his fins.

Please help me out. I'm new at looking for diseases and would very much like to keep my betta happy and healthy. I have pictures and circle the areas of the coloring. Please tell me what you think.

PS: If pictures do not show up, please go to my webshots and veiw them there. Thank you! http://community.webshots.com/album/534647371CpZwDT

Hmm... Doesn't seem to have any problem... Just his colour..

If it is fin rot, the fins will be falling apart, literally. And the edges will be reddish in colour, sort of like a thin red margin.

White tip? Can't really see.... I'd assume it's just his colour as well.... But if there's lots of white flecks or spots, it could be ick, a parasitic disease. Treat with aquarium salt laced with methylene blue. Instructions should be as stated on the container.

Just get the medical treatment for fin rot (green) @ your local petstore. Apply accordingly and it'll be fine. If ick (white spots all over the body) occurs, get & apply the blue medicine then!
