LFS got HM? If Pet Safari or UE3 like that, then ya, those would be HMs, but most LFS would have deltas or SDs....

If you want really good ones, you should get from breeders.... LFS ones are mostly C grade ones la (assuming that still applies ).....

You can register into www.bsm.betta4u.com, look up the breeders register and contact them later on...

I got my crowntail from a LFS...
Grade i don't know much about it, actually can say i don't care.
Most important thing that attracts me is a healthy betta, with nice colour and nice fin...
hehe
Anyway i'm not betta fever lah...but i like to keep them in a sence of, they are lively and have nice fin and colour.
Another thing is PRICE TAG...as i'm a student so i won't go for a a betta that cost more than 10 Bucks

Hmmm....
Red ones i saw alot, but with short fins and tail...
I bought 1 crowntail for 3bucks only...when i got him, he's very shy...
He is dark blue colour and after keeping him for awhile, his tail and fins get longer and nicer...but too bad...he's already in heaven due to pump "accident"...
Hope that i can find another one that look something like him...such a cute one...

Oh.... Ok ok... I get what you mean now....

Actually, it is all depending on your luck, especially with LFS types... So far, single coloured ones, very rarely i can get good ones from LFS... The best solid coloured ones i got were an extended red DDR CT male, and a turqoise CT female.... Oh, and my definition of good is not only what newgen has mentioned, but also includes finnage and crown extention (for the CT)...

You may try AI (Aquatics International) from Sungai Buloh... They have good fin form and healthy fish.... Colour, again depends on your luck.. Sometimes they have solid blues or reds, but most will be cambodians.....

Here's the contact:

You don't have to look for a fancy breeder to get a nice betta fish....surprisingly, at Petsmart, they have a lot of nice-looking bettas. (although of course the majority are veil tails, I saw a lot of unique colored ones..) it's kind of sad though, how they're kept in terribly tiny plastic containers. You could also try aquabid.com.
