Buy over Aquabid, get them sent from Thailand.

I've bought from Nicebettas, Duenbetta, Grandbetta and Kimjawbettas. These have been around quite some time and have had good dealings with them. I think Wasanbetta is another established seller who sells giants from time to time. Which seller to buy from is up to you. From experience the sellers I bought from were nice to deal with. However, a word of caution when buying online. Because of the delivery system of Poslaju, there is 50% chance the fish arrive dead I believe. Not the seller fault but postal service fault.

Btw, the giants I managed to breed are not normal fighter colour or red or pineapple or marble, rather they are full masked giant plakats, which still seem uncommon for sale. The fries came out half masked and full masked, but funnily eventhough parents never showed it, they seemed to develop HMPK and double tail finnage(I left for UK when they were 2 months old, half developed) So I am hoping to continue to work on this line furthur.

Here are some pics. Parent pics by the seller. Fry pics by me. Size comparison pics show size between fry at labelled age and another HMPK I bought(which is at least 5 months old or older).

Btw, not all the fries I kept for myself full masked. I only kept those with largest size actually.

True it is difficult to get masked giants, but recently one of two Thai sellers have got, but different colour I believe. HMPK giant also getting more and more available, however the price is much much more expensive than plakat giant, often 75% geno like my parent stock. DT giant even less common. I have a few in this spawn(look in the group pic) but have yet seen any for sale before.

I've checked out the websites mentioned for Giant Bettas and the prices are pretty giant too - USD!
Anyone know where to find Giant Bettas in KL/ PJ area for prices in RM? Also, does anyone know if Giants come in any other finnage besides plakat? All the ones I've seen online are plakats
Thanks.

I'm confused - aren't giant bettas a species of betta that grows bigger than than the usual bettas?

No, giants are supposed to be selectively bred for size over some generations and the attribute sort of fixed, like how you fix a colour strain. Not a separate species though with masked bettas, normal or giant, there is either imbellis/smaragdina blood in them I believe.

Hmm.... Ya, giant betta is not a species.... It is like HM, CT, and plakats.... Same species, different form.....

That's absolutely right... Mask genetics has been traced back to imbellis/smaragdina... If you look at smaragdina for instance, you can that most of them do have some masking.....

Dom, you're point is most definitely valid.... However, most seller's stock are mature ones le.... Would like to get them when are young, easier to acclimatize them...

By the way, where is your hometown Dom? Penang?
