Default New betta isn't very happy. T.T

I just got myself a new betta from an aquarium store in Damansara Uptown - the one opposite Fitness First.

It has been three days already and while it's eating (TetraMin Pro + Daphinea + Bloodworms), it isn't really swimming around or blowing bubbles. I'm off to get another cloth plant - slightly bigger one - just to give it more hiding places. (Currently, the aquarium has two small cloth plants which doesn't give it much shelter.)

What I like to know is WHAT THE HECK IS wrong with my betta. Water is dechlorinated with Aquasol (I think that's the name) and it's warm where I put the tank. It lies on the gravel most of the time and only flares up at my black leather sofa (where the aquarium sits next to) plus its reflection.

Very different from my previous blue crowntail which was agressive (even when eating) and blew bubbles non-stop.

Did I just get a sissy fighting fish or is it still adapting?

He's better today - follows my finger EVERYWHERE and is a bit camera shy. I saw one or two bubbles but I reckon I'll have to give him a few more days.

Here are some pics:
*The tank (I'm going to get some more plants tomorrow):

* Le Feu all shy and coy, perched on the leaves:

* In the corner where he always flares up at my couch:

Hmm.... Could be its attitude.... Or maybe he's just bored Happens you know......

Crowntails for some odd reason have been noted to be exceptionally aggressive amongst the longtails....

Gooner: Previous fish costs me RM8 (this one is RM11) - got it from the aquarium store at SS2 (next to PJ Clinic). It's no longer there now. I got my food supplies from there as well. Trying to track them down but it's difficult. Been looking for Hikari Pellets but the aquarium near my home (section 20) doesn't stock them. T.T

Don't think I need a mirror too coz he'll flare up at the couch whenever he's bored - I think. It's funny though watching him do that.

Joey: Was thinking maybe a plant to simulate an obstacle course might cure him of his boredom.

BTW, when do they start blowing bubblenests?

...

My previous fighting fish, Basil II (the pictures were taken by someone else - and after a weekly water change - and thus, aren't very sharp and no bubblenest):

* My tank set-up at the office (termo was for monitoring water temp - former office was like Siberia - had to put my tank next to comp air vent *kekeke*)

* Basil II, christened as such when Basil I committed suicide (don't ask!)

* The tank set-up again plus the different types of food I fed him.

Good price, especially for the red... The CT good too, straight edges... If cross with HM, and then back cross, may produce very broad spread CTs....

Bubblenest building ah... Mine build bubble nest at age 3.5 to 4 months, but there is no fixed point of time to it.... Some earlier, some later.... The most important influence however, seems to air movement... If got too much air disturbance, the fella wont build a nest, or he builds one, but it gets destroyed, and he gives up.

I got Le Feu another plant for his tank and he appears to like it. He keeps swimming in and around the leaves and branches; it looked for a moment there that he was playing and amusing himself.

I got another type of fish food for him (couldn't find the darn Hikari Betta Bio Gold pellets). Forgot the brand name but they are micro pellets.

Say, does anyone know if Mid Valley stocks those Hikari pellets?
