Default Bettas at the office

Has anyone here kept a betta at the office?

If yes, what is your tank set-up like?

If no, why not? :P

i also have a betta in my office. pink purple crown tail........

1.tank setup
- I use a betta kit BETTA (rm20, c/w with flakes + antichlorine, got the kit 4 free)
- that plastic tank holds almost 1 gallon water (about 2 liter)
- comes with plastic plant and gravel
- replace gravel with shiny marbles
- gravel look nice but difficult to wash in office

IMHO...

bettas are perfect for small mini tanks in office since they dont need aeration or filteration. However, any tank less than 1 gallon water is not recommended. They can survive, but barely. 1 gallon water will pollute the water in about 3/4 days, so i do 100% water changes twice a week. betta must be seasoned to the new water first.

Usually the aircond temp is around 25 Celcius, betta should be fine with it. dont go down below 20 Celcius, the betta is not a cold water goldfish. The best if aircond turned off at night, constant cold temp also not good for betta.

For long holidays, its preferable to take home the betta. they can last a few weeks w/o food (as claimed by some forumers).

Compare to my office and home bettas, i dont really see much difference in behaviour and health. Both eat and poo like pigs. btw, i feed them blood worms n betta flakes.

Everytime i change the water, the next day i can see em making bubble nest. That is a good sign that they are happy with their environment.

now... time to get a few females and make a betta family..
